HONG KONG, April 15, 2025 — Moviegoers across Hong Kong can look forward to another day of affordable entertainment, as Cinema Day returns for its third year on Saturday, May 10. Organised by the Hong Kong Film Exhibitors Association, the event will once again offer standard tickets for just HK$30 at participating commercial cinemas citywide.
The initiative, which has proven to be a hit with the public, aligns with ticket pricing from previous years. It is part of the broader HKPOP Culturefest 2025, although the association has yet to announce full details about other activities planned for the day.
This year’s arrangement follows a familiar format. While existing discounted fares for senior citizens priced below HK$30 will still apply to the day’s first screening, there will be no additional discounts for children, students, or seniors throughout the event. All standard tickets will be sold at a flat rate of HK$30, not including any special screenings or private events.
Ticket sales will begin at noon on May 6, four days ahead of Cinema Day, at both cinema box offices and through major online ticketing platforms. To manage demand and promote fair access, customers buying in person will be limited to a maximum of four tickets per transaction.
The popularity of Cinema Day has grown steadily since its debut. The 2024 edition, held on April 21, drew 203,869 attendees, a remarkable figure given the day was affected by poor weather and heavy rain alerts. The inaugural event in 2023 attracted a record-setting 222,036 visitors, generating HK$6.66 million in box office revenue.
