Draymond Green’s 21 Points and Jimmy Butler’s Triple-Double Lead Warriors to Victory Over Raptors

by Celina

Draymond Green scored a team-high 21 points and recorded four steals in the Golden State Warriors’ 117-114 victory over the Toronto Raptors at Chase Center on Thursday. Jimmy Butler III contributed a triple-double with 16 points, 11 rebounds, and 12 assists, along with two steals and two blocks, including a crucial block with 20.9 seconds remaining to seal the win.

The Warriors finished their seven-game homestand with an impressive 6-1 record.

Green’s Career-High First Half

Draymond Green exploded for 18 points in the first half, marking his highest-scoring half of the season and his most since March 17, 2018. Green made four three-pointers and threw down a powerful right-handed dunk. This was only the third time in his career that Green had scored more than 18 points in a half, with his career-high 21-point half coming against the Denver Nuggets in 2016.

Podziemski Shines Early

Brandin Podziemski also made a significant impact, scoring in double figures during the first quarter. He and Green combined for 21 points and five three-pointers in the period. Podziemski made three of those three-pointers and finished with 11 points, including a deep three-pointer at the end of the quarter for a 2-for-1 opportunity.

Post Breaks Career-High with Six Threes

Quinten Post set a new career-high by sinking six three-pointers, four of which came in the first half. Post’s shooting range was on full display, as he hit threes from various spots on the court, including the top of the key, both wings, and the corners.

Butler’s All-Around Performance

Jimmy Butler III recorded his second triple-double as a Warrior, finishing with 16 points, 11 rebounds, and 12 assists.

Despite shooting just 4-for-15 from the field, Butler’s all-around contributions were critical, leading the Warriors in rebounds, assists, and blocks.

Curry Leaves Game with Pelvic Contusion

Stephen Curry was forced to leave the game with 3:24 left in the third quarter after taking a hard fall on his lower back.

Curry collided with two Raptors defenders while driving to the basket and then dishing out an assist to Buddy Hield for a corner three-pointer. Curry was later diagnosed with a pelvic contusion and did not return to the game. Despite the injury, Curry was efficient during his 25 minutes on the court, scoring 17 points on 6-for-8 shooting.
