West Bend Children’s Theatre to Present “How I Became a Pirate”

West Bend, WI – The West Bend Children’s Theatre (WBCT) will celebrate its 92nd anniversary with performances of “How I Became a Pirate” from April 9-12, 2025. The musical tells the story of a young boy who is recruited by a band of comical pirates.

The play follows Jeremy Jacob, who is approached by pirates at North Beach. They are looking for someone to help them dig for buried treasure. Jeremy joins Braid Beard and his crew. He soon learns important lessons about home and love. The WBCT describes the show as a “delightful and swashbuckling musical adventure”. It is intended for audiences of all ages.

Janet Yates Vogt and Mark Friedman wrote “How I Became a Pirate”. The play is based on the book of the same name by Melinda Long and David Shannon. The theatrical production premiered at First Stage Children’s Theatre in Milwaukee.
